Join us

We are looking for talented individuals to join us on our mission towards a decentralized and interoperable blockchain ecosystem.
You will be joining an ambitious team with multi-year expertise in blockchain protocols, security and cryptography. There will be a steep learning curve, we will expect you to stay up to date with technological developments, and you will be encouraged to apply your ideas.

Probably not the main reason you will choose to come to Interlay, but we try to make coming to work every day just a little bit better.

Remote Office
Work from wherever you like. Meet colleagues all over the world.

Flexible Work Hours
We don't believe in 9-5. Work when you are most productive. There's always someone online - a perk of being distributed across time zones.

Co-working Space
Don't want to work from home? We'll support you with finding a co-working space.

Research & Knowledge Transfers
Being a research-driven start-up, we support your training and research interests & organize regular knowledge transfer workshops.

Hackathons & Challenges
When designing/testing new open source software, we like to participate in hackathons for short sprints for fun and PR.

Yearly Retreat
We like traveling and hanging out together in real life is awesome.

Company Culture

Interlay is a fully remote company, distributed across London, Vienna, Edinburgh and Tokyo. This means we need to openly communicate as effectively as possible. Inspired by Gitlab's Remote Manifasto, we stick to 7 principles for remote working:

  1. Work from anywhere you want. Working remotely allows you spend more time with your friends and family, to see more places without having to commute. You get the work done? That’s all we need to know.

  2. Communicate Asynchronously. We don’t have an office, so we don’t try to mimic one. We communicate via issue mentions and chat tools. Can it wait a few minutes, a few hours, even a few days? We don’t take someone from their work if we don’t have to.

  3. Recognize that the future is unknown. We ship stuff when it’s done, not when the sprint (planning) is complete.

  4. Have face-to-face meetings online. Face-to-face meetings are important. We’re human, we like to converse. Some times it can be critical to talk, even if only for a minute, when all other communication is written.

  5. Daily stand-up meetings are for bonding, blockers and the future. Kickstart the day with some bonding, solve anything blocking and share future plans so people can plan and act and ultimately save time.

  6. Bond in real life. Hanging out together in real life is awesome and totally worth it. We like to travel and try to meet in person whenever we can. Also: company retreats rock!

  7. Give credit where it’s due and remember to say thank you. A lot of our work is open source and publicly visible. We value your contributions and will always give credit where credit is due.
